The study of new materials has led to the creation of smart materials. These materials can reversely change one of their property when are exposed to external stimulus. Inside this wide group, shape-memory polyurethanes can be found which possess shape-memory effect. Thanks to this effect, when they are exposure to a heat source their original shape is change into a temporary one. Once the new shape is achieved, the heat source is removed in order to fix them in the new shape. Finally, reheating again their original shape is recovered. In this work, shape-memory polyurethanes (SMPU) have been synthesised using poly(methyl ether)glycol, isophorone diisocyanate and hexamethylene diisocyanate, and castor oil and 1,4-butanediol as chain-extenders. Biocompatible SMPUs were achieved using natural origin castor oil reagent during the synthesis. All polyurethanes have been characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic-mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermomechanical analysis (TMA) in order to know their physical-chemical features. FTIR technique was used for monitoring the reactions and to confirm that the isocyanate groups had completely reacted. DMA was used to know the glass transition temperature. It was check that decreasing the poliol molecular weight or increasing the stoichiometry value the glass-transition temperature value increases. Finally with TMA was evaluated that all synthesised polyurethanes had shape-memory effect. Polyurethanes can be applied in many application, thus, the objective has been the process of making biocompatible smart-textile. The process of getting textile started transforming the polymer into fibres. Due to this, electrospinning and extrusion techniques have been applied to process the fibres. Finally, fibres are woven to get textile using different methods.; Material berrien ikerketak material adimenduen sorkuntza ekarri du. Material horiek, modu itzulgarrian beren propietate bat edo gehiago aldatzeko gai dira kanpo estimulu baten eraginpean. Talde zabal honen barruan, forma-memoria poliuretanoak daude, zeinak forma-memoria efektua duten. Efektu honen bidez, poliuretanoak berotzean hasierako forma aldatzeko aukera dute; behin forma berrian izanda, hoztuz, forma berrian finkatzen dira; eta azkenik, birberotuz jatorrizko forma berreskuratzeko gaitasuna dute. Lan honetan forma-memoria poliuretanoak (SMPU) sintetizatu dira poli(tetrametilen) glikola, isoforona diisozianatoa eta hexametileno diisozianatoa erabiliz eta, kate-hedatzaile moduan errizino olioa eta 1,4-butanodiola erabiliz. SMPU biobateragarriak lortzeko, sintesian jatorri naturala duen errizino-olioa erabili da. Sintetizatu diren poliuretano guztiak Fourieren-transformatu bidezko espektroskopia infragorri (FTIR), analisi dinamiko-mekaniko (DMA) eta analisi termomekaniko (TMA) bidez karakterizatu dira propietate fisiko-kimikoak ezagutzeko. FTIR bidez erreakzioa monitorizatu da eta isozianato-taldeak guztiz erreakzionatu dutela ziurtatzeko erabili da. DMAren bidez beira-trantsizio tenperatura determinatu da, non, poliuretanoaren pisu molekularra txikitzean edo estekiometria balioa igotzean, beira-trantsizio tenperatura igotzen dela determinatu den. Azkenik TMA bidez, poliuretano guztiek memoria-forma dutela ziurtatu da. Poliuretanoak aplikazio anitzetan erabil daitezke; hala ere, helburua ehun biobateragarri adimendunak diseinatzea izan da. Ehunak egiteko, sintetizatzen diren polimerotik zuntzak lortu behar dira. Horretarako, zuntzak prestatzeko elektrobiraketa (electrospining) edo estrusio teknikak burutu dira. Azkenik, zuntzak ehotuz ehunak lortu dira, modu desberdinetan.

Light-emitting organic molecules are appealing for diagnosis in biomedicine. Fluorescence is a valuable tool to visualize ongoing biochemical processes and biomolecules in the human body with great sensibility and easily. Thus, photoactive dyes are applied as fluorescent tags, probes and sensors to monitor biochemical processes, organelles and biomolecules, respectively, by means of fluorescence microscopy. Moreover, no-fluorescent dyes but able to generate singlet oxygen can be applied as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy in the treatment of cancer. In each of the aforementioned areas dealing with biophotonics, different chromophores are required owing to the opposite photophysical signatures demanded. Herein, we propose BODIPY called chromophore as a molecular scaffold for diagnosis and therapy. The chemical versatility and tunable photophysics of this chromophoric core enables tailoring by the appropriate substitution pattern. Therefore, our aim is to highlight the importance of molecular design to develop fluorophores as well as photosensitizers based solely in BODIPY.; Argia igortzeko gai diren molekula organikoek arreta handia jaso dute azkenaldian biomedikuntzaren esparruan, batez ere diagnosian erabiltzeko helburuarekin. Izan ere, fluoreszentzia, baliabide ezin hobea da gorputzean gertatzen diren hainbat prozesu biokimiko monitorizatzeko eta biomolekulak sentikortasun handiz detektatzeko. Hori dela eta, fotoaktiboak diren kromoforoak markatzaile, zunda edo sentsore fluoreszente gisa erabiltzen dira mikroskopia fluoreszenteari esker; hots, prozesu biokimikoak jarraitzeko, organuluak ikusteko edota biomolekulak detektatzeko. Fluoreszentziarik ez duten kromoforoak, ordea, oxigeno singletea sortzeko gaitasuna ere izan dezakete eta fotosentikortzaile izaerarekin erabil daitezke terapia fotodinamikoan, minbiziaren aurkako tratamenduan. Argi dago, biofotonikako arlo baterako zein besterako eskakizun fotofisikoak guztiz bestelakoak direla eta kromoforo ezberdinak diseinatzea ezinbestekoa dela. Horregatik, lan honetan, BODIPY izeneko kromoforo-familia oinarrizko molekula-egituratzat hartzen da, diagnosian zein terapian aplikatu ahal izateko. Kromoforo mota horren abantaila nagusia da bere egitura eta propietateak erraz molda daitezkeela. Horrela, egituraren gainean ordezkapen sinple batzuk eginda hainbat eskakizun modu errazean ase daitezke. Hortaz, gure helburu nagusia da BODIPYan oinarritutako fluoroforoak zein fotosentikortzaileak garatzea eta diseinu molekularraren garrantzia azpimarratzea.

Understanding the origin of physical-chemical properties of molecules is crucial for the development of new materials. However, due to the limitations of conventional experimental techniques, this is not an easy goal to achieve. The accuracy required to overcome this challenge is available through isolated-phase studies. In this case, the intrinsic properties of a new family of a high conductance foldamer based on anthracene monomers have been studied by means of RIDIRS (Resonant Ion Dip Infrared Spectroscopy) laser spectroscopy and supersonic expansion. The comparation between the inherent infrared experimental spectrum of the isolated molecules and DFT (Density-functional theory) calculations has determined the predominance of the π-π interactions between anthracene monomers, which underlines the effectiveness of laser spectroscopy as a great complement to other characterisation techniques.; Molekulen propietate fisiko-kimikoen jatorria ezagutzea ezinbestekoa da material berrien garapenerako. Hala ere, teknika esperimental konbentzionalen mugak direla eta, aipatutako helburua betetzea ez da erraza. Erronka hau gainditzeko beharrezkoa den zehaztasuna egoera isolatutako ikasketetan eskuragarri dago. Kasu honetan, konduktantzia altua aurkezten duen antrazeno unitatez osatutako foldameroen familia berriaren propietate intrintsekoak aztertu dira egoera isolatutako RIDIRS (Resonant Ion Dip Infrared Spectroscopy) laser-espektroskopia eta espantsio supersonikoak erabiliz. Modu horretan, isolatutako molekulen berezko infragorri espektro esperimentala eta DFT (Density-functional theory) kalkuluen emaitzak konparatu dira antrazeno monomeroen arteko π-π elkarrekintzen nagusitasuna determinatu ahal izateko. Horren ondorioz, laser-espektroskopia gainerako karakterizazio-teknikentzako osagarri ezin hobea dela egiaztatu da.

The anthropic activities during the last decade are causing damages on ecosystems. In fact, animal husbandry, agriculture, and industrial activities have increased the proportion of soils contaminated with pesticides and metals. The presence of pollutants could affect soil organisms and the Ecosystem Services provided; thus, a proper risk evaluation is required in order to assess the final environmental impacts of pollutants. In silico models are tools designed to predict environmental concentrations of released pollutants that could assist on substances evaluation and regulation. Meanwhile, the health paradigm, understanding the natural environment as an inter-related compartment, has been spread within the scientific community. Hence, the measurement of toxicological effects produced by contaminants on soil organisms (using in vivo tests and biomarkers) gained a high reputation for evaluating environmental health. This work presents different approaches, techniques, software, guidelines and tests for assessing contaminated soils; crucial for an integrative soil assessment; Azken hamarkadatako jarduera antropikoak ekosistemetan desorekak sortzen hasiak dira. Horrela, abeltzaintzak, nekazaritzak eta aktibitate industrialek pestizida eta metalekin kutsaturiko lurzoruen proportzioa emendarazi dute. Kutsatzaileen presentziak, lurzoruetan bizi diren organismoak eta beraz, lurzoruak eskaintzen dituen Zerbitzu Ekosistemikoak erasatea ekarri dezake, arrisku ebaluazio egokien beharra eskatuz. In silico modeloak, kutsatzaile baten aplikazio osteko ingurumen kontzentrazioak aurreikusteko tresna egokiak dira, substantzien arrisku ebaluazioan eta erregulazioan lagun dezaketenak. Bestetik, kutsatzaileak lurzoruan duten inpaktua ebaluatze aldera, osasunaren paradigma ikuspuntua; hots, medio naturalak inter-erlazionatutako konpartimentu gisa ulertzen dituena, hedatzen hasi da komunitate zientifikoaren baitan. Era honetan, kutsatzaileek lurzoru organimoengan eragindako efektu toxikologikoen neurketak (in vivo test-ak eta biomarkatzaileak erabiltzen dituztenak) omen handia irabazi dute ingurumenaren osasuna ebaluatzerako orduan. Lan honetan, kutsatutako lurzoruak ebaluatzeko ikuspuntu, teknika, software, gidalerro eta test ezberdinak aurkezten dira; lurzoru ebaluazio integral bat burutzeko beharrezkoak direnak.
