Como docente, como investigador y como pintor, tres figuras indisolubles que definen mi postura (en cierta forma, a/r/tográfica) frente a aquello que trato de entender, encuentro que la Educación Plástica (curricularmente, Educación Plástica, Visual y Audiovisual) ofrece un escenario adecuado para abordar algunas de las carencias que sufre el sistema educativo actual. Entiendo que, a este respecto, la motivación del alumnado puede constituir el eje central para la resolución de muchos de los conflictos a los que los docentes nos enfrentamos cada día. Cómo la Educación Plástica se puede articular para despertar la motivación intrínseca de los/las escolares constituye el eje central de esta investigación. La experiencia que la educación artística puede proporcionar, tal y como sostienen muchos estudios (los de Elliot Eisner, Dennis Atkinson, José Luis Brea, Rita Irwin, Fernando Hernández o Fernando Miranda entre otros), plantea diversas alternativas a las necesidades que definen al alumnado de hoy. El desarrollo de la intuición, el diálogo con la emoción, el trabajo colaborativo, el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico y creativo, el encuentro y ejercicio de la imaginación, entre otras, pueden constituir algunas de las aportaciones de la experiencia artística. Behartokia: ikusi-ikasi-sortu, la iniciativa que me propuse desarrollar en el Instituto de Abadiño durantea el curso 2015-2016 y que relato en esta disertación, está enmarcada dentro de este contexto que deriva de la necesidad de ofrecer al alumnado una educación que contemple sus necesidades emocionales, sociales, comunicativas y creativas.
