The genus Aspergillus is one of the most studied genera among filamentous fungi due to the medical and industrial importance of some of its species and the pathogenic nature of some other species. Aspergillus nidulans is one of the main reference species for the study of the molecular and genetic pathways controlling asexual reproduction of filamentous fungi. This undergraduate thesis studies the new genes/proteins taking part in the genetic control of the asexual development in A. nidulans.. In previous studies, a mutation in the gene AN10640 was identified as the cause of the FLIP57 aconidial phenotype and the putative cyclin FlpA coded by AN10640 was identified. In addition, studies suggest that FlpA interacts with the putative cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) Stk47 and a third protein that acts as a bridge between the former two called FlpB to form a CTDK-1 type complex. This complex regulates in eukaryotes RNA Pol II activity by phosphorylation of the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) of its large subunit. The present work intends not only to infer the structures and determine the functions of FlpA, Stk47 and FlpB but also to study the functional dependencies among the three proteins with the aim of a better understanding of the mechanisms of this putative complex. This way, the effect this CTDK-1 type complex (that takes part in the transcription process) has on the regulation of asexual development in A. nidulans has been observed.es_ES
