Las víctimas ocultas de las emergencias: el trabajo de los bomberos en relación con la victimización

Abstract

[ES]Ante una situación que reviste caracteres de emergencia, existen dos roles principales. A primera vista, puede considerarse a la víctima como la única perjudicada directa del suceso. No obstante, sin desmerecer la realidad de estas, todo escenario tiene su reverso. En la cara oculta de las emergencias, está el rol de salvador, que, aún presentándose como una figura heroica, puede ser objeto de estudio desde el prisma victimológico. Se habla, en este sentido, de los bomberos, pues son los profesionales que se encuentran frecuentemente en primera línea, y es posible que su realidad se vea igualmente sacudida. Así pues, con el presente estudio se pretende examinar los desafíos, riesgos y exposiciones a las que se enfrenta este colectivo laboral. En aras de ofrecer un análisis completo de las posibles consecuencias de este cargo, ante una situación potencialmente traumática o estresante, se tendrán en consideración una variedad de aspectos. Estos incluyen tanto las secuelas psicológicas y físicas, como las estrategias preventivas que existen de cara a una posible victimización, sin olvidar la percepción de los propios bomberos en lo que se refiere a recursos de formación y apoyo. Como objetivo principal se destaca la trascendencia de ofrecer una perspectiva victimológica, así como de aportar un conocimiento amplio sobre la salud de estos profesionales. Se tiene, por ende, el fin de concienciar sobre los perjuicios que conlleva su deterioro, puesto que es una cuestión que concierne a la sociedad en general y su victimización en particular. Al fin y al cabo, su bienestar repercute en el de todos los demás.

[EN] In an emergency situation, there are two main roles. At first glance, the victim may be considered the only one directly harmed by the event. However, without underestimating the reality of these, every situation has its flip side. On the hidden side of emergencies, there is the role of the rescuer, who, even if presented as a heroic figure, can be studied from the victimological perspective. In this sense, we are talking about firefighters, since they are the professionals who are frequently on the front line, and it is possible that their reality is equally shaken. Thus, the present study aims to examine the challenges, risks and exposures faced by this group of workers. In order to provide a comprehensive analysis of the possible consequences of this position in a potentially traumatic or stressful situation, a variety of aspects will be considered. These include both the psychological and physical consequences, as well as the preventive strategies that exist in the case of a possible victimization, without forgetting the perception of the firefighters themselves in terms of training and support resources. The main objective is to offer a victimological perspective, as well as to provide broad knowledge about the health of these professionals. The aim is also to raise awareness of the harm caused by their deterioration, since this is an issue that concerns society in general and their victimization in particular. After all, their well-being has an impact on the well-being of everyone else.
