Abstract

[ES] Este trabajo trata de abordar los quebraderos de cabeza de la Corona española por llevar a cabo la conquista de las Indias siguiendo unos fuertes principios religiosos y morales, actuando de una manera totalmente atípica para la época. Para ello, iremos viendo, de manera lineal, los sucesos que se dieron en este lugar, que abarcan desde la creación de figuras para regir la vida cotidiana de los mismos hasta la extensa, depurada y profundamente debatida legislación generada bajo intensísimo debate en las más elevadas instancias de la administración real. Por último, nos adentraremos, de la mano de Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda y Fray Bartolomé de las Casas, en el suceso que marcó un antes y un después a la hora de entender las guerras, la Junta de Valladolid.

[EN] This work aims to address the headaches of the Spanish Crown in carrying out the conquest of the Indies by following strong religious and moral principles, acting in a manner completely atypical for the time. To do this, we will look linearly at the events that took place in this region, ranging from the creation of figures to govern the daily lives of the people to the extensive, refined, and deeply debated legislation generated under intense discussion in the highest echelons of the royal administration. Finally, we will delve, with the guidance of Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda and Fray Bartolomé de las Casas, into the event that marked a turning point in understanding wars: the Valladolid Debate.
