[EN] Bereal is a social network that emerged with the intention of bringing its users closer together and promoting authenticity among them. In other words, it aims to introduce a sense of reality into its community through the help of infrastructure and beliefs. But even though they try to break free from that “Instagram logic” and be spontaneous, users still engage in performance, both in the process of posting a bereal and in the subsequent interaction with their “friends”. It doesn't matter how “real” they are because ultimately, the Bereal community, like those in other platforms, wants to see and be seen; this is what I observed through interviews with users. It's a feeling that permeates the app: feeling loved by a community, by people no matter how far apart they may be. It's an increasingly common reaction in a society that is becoming more individualized and enclosed in their smart screens.
