Increasingly, the quality control on production processes is becoming imperative in industry. This control includes the analysis of raw materials and their suppliers. In the hygiene products industry, this control is vital to ensure the quality of the final product, avoiding deficient performances. Pure components (organic substances) used in the manufacturing of WC cleaning systems can be purchased from different suppliers. These components should be mixed/combined in defined proportions/ranges in order to guarante the elimination of pathogens and removal remaining dirt, and to avoid unpleasant odors. In this study a methodology for the quantitative determination of some organic compounds such as D-limonene, hexyl cinnamic aldehyde, linalool, citronellol, geraniol and eugenol has been developed. The developed method was then applied to, three samples from commercial products suspected of fraud. In one sample, one of the compounds listed in the safety data sheet was below detection limit (hexyl cinnamic) and in another sample, the proportion found for another compound listed (geraniol) was outside the range assured by the supplier.
