Abstract

The last four years of the ceaseless and brilliant work of Angel Viñas is reviewed, during which time he has become, with his monumental trilogy on the foreign policy of the II Republic, the best and most documented living Spanish historian regarding the hopeful and dramatic trajectory of the first Spanish democracy at war. Along with that trilogy, it must be added his study on the final collapse of that regime, the functioning, of its, until now littleknown, Foreign Service and his critical publication and preliminary study of the memoirs of the Spanish ambassador in London during the Civil War. All of the foregoing attests to the priceless contribution of this outstanding researcher to the prestige of Spanish historiography.; Se repasa la incesante y brillante obra de Ángel Viñas en estos últimos cuatro años que le han consagrado, tras su monumental trilogía sobre la política exterior de la II República, como el historiador español vivo más y mejor documentado sobre la esperanzada y dramática trayectoria de la primera democracia española en guerra. A dicha trilogía hay que agregar sin solución de continuidad su estudio sobre el desplome final de aquel régimen, el funcionamiento hasta ahora poco conocido de su servicio Exterior y la edición crítica y estudio preliminar de las memorias del que fuere embajador de España en Londres durante la guerra civil. Todo lo cual atestigua la impagable aportación de este destacado investigador al prestigio de la historiografía española.
