Comunidades terapéuticas en Euskadi: un recorrido a lo largo de la historia

Abstract

[ES] Las comunidades terapéuticas (CC.TT.) son un recurso residencial orientado a tratar las adicciones que surgieron en Estados Unidos (EE.UU.) en la década de 1950 y que llegaron a Europa y por lo tanto a España en la década de 1980, convirtiéndose en un recurso de referencia en el ámbito de atención a las adicciones. Durante las primeras décadas tuvieron mucho protagonismo en este ámbito, pero aproximadamente a partir del año 2000 disminuyó la investigación y divulgación sobre este tema. Sin embargo, el recurso ha seguido funcionando en todo momento y a lo largo del tiempo ha ido evolucionando para adaptarse a las nuevas demandas y necesidades de la sociedad y de las personas atendidas. Este proceso evolutivo de adaptación no ha sido documentado y por lo tanto no ha quedado reflejado en la literatura. En este estudio se ha considerado oportuno analizar la evolución, situación actual y los motivos que la han llevado a esta evolución para conocer uno de los recursos esenciales en la red de atención a personas drogodependientes. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio cualitativo mediante entrevistas a psicólogos/as que trabajan o han trabajado en los centros Paul Enea, Kortezubi y Manuene situados en diferentes puntos de Euskadi. El análisis temático realizado con la información obtenida de estas entrevistas ha evidenciado el proceso evolutivo que las CC.TT. han llevado a cabo para adaptarse a los cambios y demandas que se han dado en el ámbito de las drogodependencias, siendo el más evidente el cambio de perfil de las personas atendidas. Además de conocimiento sobre este tipo de recurso y estos centros concretos, se considera que el trabajo aporta actualización necesaria sobre este tema, que a su vez abre todo un abanico de posibilidades para investigaciones futuras centradas en aspectos más concretos del recurso.

[EN] Therapeutic communities (TT.CC.) are a residential resource aimed at treating addictions that emerged in the United States of America (USA) in the 1950s and arrived to Europe and therefore to Spain in the 1980s, becoming a reference resource in the field of addiction treatment. During the first decades they were very important in this field, but around the year 2000 the research and dissemination of information about this subject decreased. However, the resource has continued working at all times and over time has evolved to adapt to the new demands and needs of society and the people it serves. This evolutionary process of adaptation has not been documented and therefore has not been reflected in the literature. In this study it has been considered appropriate to analyse the evolution, current situation and the reasons that have led to this evolution in order to get to know one of the essential resources in the system of addiction treatment. To this end, a qualitative study was carried out by means of interviews with psychologists who work or have worked in the Paul Enea, Kortezubi and Manuene centers located in the Basque Country. The thematic analysis carried out with the information obtained from these interviews has shown the evolutionary process that the TT.CC. have carried out in order to adapt to the changes and demands that have occurred in the field of drug addiction, the most evident being the change in the profile of the people attended. In addition to knowledge about this type of resource and these specific centers, it is considered that the study provides the necessary update on this subject, which in turn opens up a whole range of possibilities for future research focused on more specific aspects of the resource.
