Clemens Meyer und das Unheimliche als Nachwendebild: ‘Literatur muss weh tun, sonst ist es nichts wert’

Abstract

Español: Este capítulo de libro se centra en el análisis de las novelas Als wir träumten (2006) e Im Stein (2013) del autor Clemens Meyer, quien pone el foco en la generación de la Wende y en el inframundo de Leipzig en la fase final de la RDA y la época de la Wende (Unificación Alemana). Se aborda en el análisis su concepto de Heimat unido a lo distópico y relacionado con el ámbito freudiano de lo inquietante (unheimlich). Además, se estudian los recursos literarios que en ambas novelas contribuyen a materializar la concepción que defiende Meyer de la literatura en correlación con el dolor, el miedo y el valor ético.

English: This book chapter focuses on the analysis of the novels Als wir träumten (2006) and Im Stein (2013) by the author Clemens Meyer, who focuses on the Wende generation and the underworld of Leipzig in the final phase of the GDR and the era of the Wende (German Unification). The analysis deals with his concept of Heimat, which is represented linked to the dystopian and related to the Freudian realm of the unsettling (unheimlich). Furthermore, the literary devices will be analysed that in both novels contribute to the literarization of Meyer's conception of literature in correlation with pain, fear and ethical value are examined.
