La movilidad de estudiantes en América Central: ¿en busca del Hegemonic Knowledge?

Abstract

[ES]La dinámica de la movilidad estudiantil centroamericana está caracterizada por la unidireccionalidad hacia los países occidentales, que constituyen centros de saber hegemónico, especialmente Estados Unidos. No obstante, se aprecia un aumento de la movilidad a Cuba, creándose un espacio alternativo y de contrapeso a dicha tendencia. En cambio, la movilidad hacia la región centroamericana es doméstica y periférica, con mayores aportes intrarregionales que foráneos, situándose al margen de los centros universitarios de producción científica. The dynamics of Central American students’ mobility is characterized by oneway mobility to the Western countries, as centers of hegemonic knowledge, especially the United States. However, there has been an increase in academic mobility to Cuba, which suggests the emergence of an alternative space and a counterbalance to this trend. Instead, mobility towards the Central American region is domestic and peripheral, with more intraregional than foreign contributions, standing on the sidelines of university centers of scientific production.
