¿Viejos edificios para nuevas infancias? el devenir de una escuela centenaria en Rosario, Argentina

Abstract

The Argentine school park is made up of some buildings that, with more than 100 years old, continue to house local children and adolescents. The building of the Normal School No. 1 in Rosario (1897), the first of its kind built in the city, is presented in this paper. It is proposed to approach its analysis through the category of historical public school, putting into play the explicit relationship of the school building with the present paying, with primary sources and field work, questions typical of current schooling. On the one hand, it is argued that the power of a school building lies in the ability to be flexible to the demands of use present in the character and autonomy of the original architectural project. On the other hand, the demands of today's childhood can be met by recovering and recreating pedagogical and architectural heritage; El parque escolar argentino está integrado por algunos edificios que, con más de 100 años de antigüedad, siguen albergando a las infancias y a las adolescencias locales. Se presenta en este trabajo el edificio de la escuela Normal Nº1 de la ciudad de Rosario (1897), el primero de este tipo construido en la ciudad. Se propone abordar su análisis a través de la categoría de escuela pública histórica poniendo en juego la explícita relación del edificio escolar con el presente abonando, con fuentes primarias y trabajo de campo, interrogantes propios de la escolaridad actual. Se sostiene por un lado, que la potencia de un edificio escolar reside en la capacidad de ser flexible a las demandas de uso presentes en el carácter y autonomía del proyecto arquitectónico original. Por otro, que las demandas de las infancias actuales pueden atenderse recuperando y recreando las herencias pedagógica y arquitectónica.
